Spitfires ready for return to action

The Exeter Spitfires play their fifth game of the season and second home game this Sunday 16 June as they face the Bristol Bats for the third game in a row.

It has been a busy few weeks, which started with a fantastic 19-18 victory over the Bats in the Spitfires' first game at their new home, Chadwick Field at St Luke's Sports College.

The club then travelled to Bristol the following week, this time suffering a 24-13 loss. Both games showed further improvement from Exeter as their inexperienced roster continue to learn the game.

Work in the community and the building of the sport in Exeter have also been features of the last month. The Spitfires' coaches have been holding training sessions at two local secondary schools as they look to promote the game and set up youth teams. Trained umpires from the team were also present at a local Softball tournament to officiate the games.

Training has continued at Chadwick Field on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6.30pm with many new players joining the team. The sessions are always open to newcomers as the Spitfires look to add even more players to their growing roster or, if you are unsure about the sport, come and watch the team this Sunday at their game at Chadwick Field, Harts Lane, Exeter with the first pitch at 12pm, to see what is involved.
