Wednesday saw the Captain take a team to Bigbury for the away leg of the Annual Lloyd Rowett match. Bigbury was in excellent condition, and on a sunny, but tough day with a cold easterly wind, all 6 of the matches were very close.

Captain, Ray Banfield, and his partner Neil Woolfrey, gained a half from the top match. Vice-Captain, John Fairman and David Inglis lost 2 down in a close match. Paul Smale and Alistair Ross gained a half. Martin McBain and Roger Worthington were the only victorious match and they ran out 2 Up winners in match 4. David Newbery and Russell Mayne also competed in a halved match. Bigbury won the final match 3 & 2 by defeating Chris Horwell and Ben Lynch. Overall match result was 3.5 – 2.5 to Bigbury.

The second leg of this fixture is to be played at Exeter GCC on Wednesday 16th July with Exeter having home advantage. All to play for!!!

With the individual competitions now in full swing, over 150 players took part in this weekends Monthly stableford. An unusual Easterly wind (forgive the pun) meant that the course played tougher than normal, with no payers tearing up the course.
Results as follows:

Division 1 (0-9): 1 J Oram-Evennett 37 points, 2 Phil Mills 35, 3 Rick Pillow 35.

Division 2 (10-14): 1 M McBain 38 pts, 2 M Thompson 37, 3 C Willett 37.

Division 3 (15-19): 1 C Bryant 38 pts, 2 J Hayman 35, 3 C Partridge 33.

Division 4 (20-28): 1 T Linnington 38 pts, 2 R Taylor 35, 3 M Trim 34.

Timothy Linnington, Christopher Bryant, Mark Thompson, Martin McBain & Jonathon Oram-Evennett managed to trim a shot off of each of their respective handicaps
