Daniel Cormier has admitted he was suprised by Khabib Nurmagomedov’s return against Justin Gaethje

Daniel Cormier and Khabib Nurmagomedov are two of the best mixed martial artists to be part of the UFC and these two share a unique relationship with one another, recently Daniel Cormier opened up about his relationship with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Daniel said that he loves Khabib and that he is one of the best people in the world, He went on to say how loyal and caring Khabib is and that Khabib is willing to even die for the people he loves and cares about. Cormier and Khabib train together and share the gym, but Cormier still sees Khabib as the little kid who first came into the gym and couldn’t speak English, Daniel also says that he is like a big brother to Khabib.

Daniel is someone who knows Khabib closely and after Khabib lost his father due to the coronavirus, Daniel was there for Khabib and always supported him, he also said that he knows how close Khabib Nurmagomedov and his father were, and hence he knew that how much Khabib must suffer and fighting and his title would be the last thing on his mind.

Daniel Cormier knows Khabib better than most people, and hence he was taken a bit by surprise when he heard about  Khabibs decision to return to action on the 24th of October and defend his title against Justin Gaethje who is the No1 contender to the UFC Lightweight Championship.

Daniel said “I was a little nervous initially. Not nervous I was a bit taken aback. After I did the show with ESPN talking about it I heard that Khabib was looking more at getting sooner than later. So, when the announcement was made, it didn’t surprise me because I had an inclination it was going to happen. But I thought he would be away for a while. But nothing makes me happier than my champion coming back and defending his belt.” said Daniel Cormier during an interview with MMA Junkie.

Daniel Cormier and Khabib Nurmagomedov are great friends and share a great relationship but even he couldn’t have known what Khabib was thinking and hence was a little taken aback by Khabibs decision to return to the Octagon.

No matter that Daniel still supports and loves Khabib and is super excited for the champions return and he is not the only one, we as fans are super excited to see Khabib return to the ring and see him defend his title against Justin Gaethje.
