In the Exeter & District youth league under 11’s division two Central United showed real grit and determination to beat a physical Kentisbeare team 2-1 on Saturday. The first half saw some very nice football despite the boggy pitch and Central United took a deserved lead through a well worked goal by Andrew Lapworth. Francis Blewett was a constant threat down the right hand side and went close on several occasions before finding the back of the net to give the United boys a 2-0 lead, which was preserved until half time due to some superb goal keeping by Ollie Banwell.

Kentisbeare are a big side and their physicality was clear in the second half as all the boys legs showed the effects of the heavy pitch. Kentisbeare came back strongly  and scored a scrappy goal midway through the second half. The game continued to be close and Central United had to defend aggressively on a few occasions hanging on to gain all 3 points, earning their second win in 3 games.
