Exeter prepares to host two Women’s Rugby World Cup quarter-finals this weekend

Exeter is set to host two enthralling Women’s Rugby World Cup quarter-finals at Sandy Park this weekend.

The tournament, which kickstarted on August 22nd, has already been seen as a generational moment for women’s rugby, with it expected to become the most viewed women’s rugby event of all time.

It has already smashed records as the fastest-selling edition of the tournament ever, with more than 400,000 tickets sold, and tickets are still available for this weekend’s quarter-final action at Exeter’s Sandy Park.

Fixtures

  • Saturday 13th September: New Zealand vs South Africa (13:00 kick-off)
  • Sunday 14th September: France vs Ireland (13:00 kick-off)

New Zealand, one of the tournament’s standout favourites, powered through Pool C with commanding wins over Spain, Japan, and Ireland. They now face South Africa, who are making history with their first-ever appearance in the quarter-finals.

On Sunday, all eyes turn to Ireland’s clash with France — a battle that promises intensity, skill and drama. Despite losing 40-0 to New Zealand in their last match, Ireland have been one of the tournament’s most entertaining sides, whilst France arrive brimming with confidence and flair after finishing top of Pool D. With a semi-final spot on the line, it’s set to be a contest worthy of the biggest stage in Devon.

It’s set to be a spectacle like no other with inspiring personalities that will resonate with a wide demographic, whilst the tournament continues to play a central role in shaping positive perceptions of women’s sport at all levels of the game, championing gender equity, and enriching local communities.

Tickets for both matches are still available, starting from £15, continuing to showcase that this is the most accessible Rugby World Cup ever.
