Cathedral Financial Management (CFM) hosts art exhibition as part of Art Week Exeter

Award-winning CFM sponsored Art Week Exeter - the city’s art festival, by hosting an art reception at Eagle House, Exeter Science Park. Over 40 guests made up of CFM staff, clients, professionals from the Exeter business community, as well as friends and supporters were welcomed with fizz and wine. Local artist Nicola Hendry showcased her works including acrylic canvasses, glass ornaments, ceramics and even funky trainers depicting various wildlife images which is a passion of hers.

A new activity is hitting the streets of Exeter this week with the launch of the Tramble App, a 60-minute walking challenge where you answer 10 questions based on what you see along the route.

There are currently two of the Tramble walks in Exeter with more to follow in the summer.

I went out and did the Exeter Cathedral and Quay Tramble and saw a few parts of hidden Exeter that I have always somehow missed before. There is the House that Moved and a famous literary connection I was dumbfounded by.

Mihangelf Promotions bring Banco de Gaia to South Devon

Mihangelf Promotions is a relatively new music promotions enterprise in South Devon putting on live music.

Thus far, there have been five events at the Unit 23 Live venue in Totnes, formerly South Devon Arts Centre, a short hop away on the train or up the A38.

The enterprise is run by music lover Mike Fraser who lives local to Totnes.

Genres of music focused on are psychedelic rock, psychedeliic/ambient/world dance and progressive rock, though don't be surprised at the occasional reggae or folk event.

Over 200 guests helped to celebrate the official opening of the new £8.5m Marshall Exeter Audi terminal building, almost double the size of the former centre and with extensive customer parking. The event helped to showcase the latest Audi Terminal concept and the glittering 15-car showroom.

Exeter Chamber of Commerce celebrated their 150th Exeter Anniversary in style with 360 people attending the annual Exeter Business Dinner which took place on Friday 17th November at Sandy Park Conference Centre.

Charlie and AJ Courtenay, Earl and Countess of Devon, gave the main address of the evening, sharing their vision for Powderham Castle in the future, as well as an insight into the ancient family’s part in the city and region’s history.

Ladies Do Lunch at Deer Park

Ladies Do Lunch, Exeter’s highly successful dining club, paid a visit to the recently refurbished Deer Park Hotel near Honiton where they enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the beautiful Italian garden, looking resplendent in the early Autumn sunshine.

Then followed a tour of the kitchen garden from head gardener Ollie who passed on some tasty tips about growing vegetables and herbs.

Award-winning Topsham Restaurant, Denley’s Essence of India, hosted a Summer Showcase last week, for local businesses in Topsham and the local media to sample its latest dishes, as well as the kitchen’s specialities.

The restaurant, situated on the main road through the village, seats up to 40 people and has been recognised by the British Curry Awards for its fantastic cuisine from across the regions of India. With a selection of dishes and appetisers for all to enjoy and sample, the restaurant was packed with food lovers - it was a night to remember!
