The Exeter Business Games 2013, organised by Big Wave Media, were officially launched on January 31st, at an informal event held at The Forum, the University of Exeter. Representatives from 30 Exeter businesses were joined by chef Michael Caines, trustee of the Exeter Business Games’ nominated charity the Exeter Foundation, and Robin Williams and Dan James from the GB Paralympic Football team. The Exeter Chamber of Commerce held their first Networking Lunch of 2013 at the Mercure Southgate hotel on Wednesday 16th January.

The speaker at this event was Bill Martin. Bill began his career in 1989 as a reporter on the Express & Echo in Exeter, his career has taken him to Norwich as news editor, a freelance reporter for The Daily Telegraph , Daily Mail , Daily Mirror and The Sunday Telegraph . Clients, sponsors, advertisers and supporters were welcomed to 107.3FM Radio Exe's studios in Exeter to celebrate the station’s first year under the new brand. Guests enjoyed wine and canapés provided by Taste of Exeter. Live music from local musicians including Hannah Berney from the BBC1 programme, The Voice and The Nameless Girl was broadcast later on the station's Live & Local show with Ashley Jeary.

The Royal Marines C Group charity presented to a networking event at the Exeter Golf and Country Club and awarded the Club’s 2013 President with their Ambassador status.

The C Group supports Royal Marines in need, particularly those who have been injured on operations and in transition to civilian life.

The charity was initiated in 2008 by Major General Andy Salmon CMG OBE following discussions with members of Exeter Business Community who offered help to overcome the barriers between service and civilian life.
