'St Gudula' stands by the River Swincombe on Dartmoor

Ancient Holy Well Forms Centrepiece for new Dartmoor Community Pageant

The spirit of a medieval saint will be evoked in a new community ritual for Dartmoor, which aims to reconnect people with water and the land.

St Gudula’s Well in Ashburton, an ancient holy well, will be the focus of the ceremony, which will honour water as the source of all life, and also celebrate the start of summer.

‘Gudula’s Gathering’ has been conceived by events curator and writer Kirsteen McNish, and Helen Bruce of the Dartmoor Preservation Association, as the closing event for the Dartmoor Tors Festival.

Home is where the art is for Sapphire Living

Sapphire Living Space invited special guests to the launch of Wave, an art exhibition by Christine Allison.

The luxury kitchen and bathroom showroom often stages events in its amazing space, opposite Dart's Farm near Topsham.

Christine's artwork is going to be at the Sapphire Living Space showroom until September 23rd.

Co-owner Mark Newbery said: "Everyone is welcome to come along, enjoy Christine's work and browse around the showroon."

Business Network South West - Summer Business Lunch

70 decision makers from the local business community attended the summer Business Networking (SW) lunch held at Sandy Park, Exeter.

Guests were welcomed with a glass of wine and enjoyed a two-course sit-down lunch followed by a presentation from Spencer B. Hodgetts on Nature’s Brilliance in Business.

Jurassic Classic soars to success

Over 1,000 cyclists took to their saddles last weekend (Sunday 11 August) for the second Jurassic Classic cycling event organised by Prostate Cancer UK, raising over £100,000 for the charity and putting the Jurassic Classic firmly on the cycling map.

Riders of all abilities – aged from 12 to 70 and from all over the country - gathered in East Devon to take part in the 100mile, 100km or 50km routes experiencing fantastic weather and stunning scenery along the Jurassic coastline. Devon finalists in NatWest Venus Awards, dubbed ‘The Working Women’s Oscars’, have been treated to afternoon tea at the luxurious Magdalen Chapter Hotel in Exeter. Around 15 members of the Gilbert Stephens Lunch Club enjoyed a two-course luncheon at The Conservatory located on North Street.

The bi-monthly event, organised by the Devon-based law firm, is held at various venues in and around Exeter and gives professionals from the city the chance to meet in an informal setting.

Exeter-based Radiance MediSpa run by mother and daughter team Dr Ros Debenham and Katie Debenham hosted its first corporate event since opening in the spring. The title of this month’s event was ‘Visioning your business’. The luxurious venue was utilised by GrowthAccelerator which helps small businesses expand with on-going support for business strategy.

Guests were welcomed with a glass of champagne and enjoyed taster sessions from Radiance MediSpa therapists followed by presentations from Katharine Bourke of GrowthAccelerator and Dr Ros Debenham.

Next Sunday, 30 brave participants from Exeter and beyond, will be dusting off their trainers and perfecting their shimmying at 'The Ultimate Danceathon' for Cancer Research UK. Three local instructors will be joining forces to deliver three hours of dance fitness. Included in the day will be the ever-popular 'Zumba', up-and-coming Bollywood fitness sensation 'Just Jhoom!', and 'Swagga Fit'; a fantastic new workout developed by the local 'Vibes Dance Company'!

'The Ultimate Danceathon' will be taking place at Active Fitness near Topsham, and places are still available for anyone...
