Slazenger Padel opens in Exeter

Slazenger, one of the world’s leading names in racquet sports, has unveiled Slazenger Padel Exeter, a 35,000 sq. ft Padel Club located at Haven Banks in the heart of the city.

This marks another step in Slazenger Padel’s ambition to become the UK’s leading padel powerhouse, bringing premium padel facilities to more communities across the country.

On Monday 31st August, Slazenger Padel opened its newest location at Haven Banks Retail Park in Exeter, which has been providing outdoor education, training and recreational opportunities for more than 45 years.

Join the Big Pollinator Survey

Buglife and Torbay Council are re-launching the “Big Pollinator Survey” as part of the Torbay’s Buzzing! project which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and aims to help stop the decline in Torbay’s bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects.

People across Torbay are invited to take part in the “Big Pollinator Survey” over the Spring and Summer to see how the wildlife on their doorstep is doing. Taking part is easy, and doesn’t require any previous bug knowledge!

Citizens Advice Exeter concerned over rise in welfare benefit enquiries

Leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, has released its latest advice trend statistics.

In the period 1 April 2016 – 28 February 2017 the charity helped 7267 people directly with advice and information. The advice trends over the period were as follows:

Welfare benefits Overall, the charity dealt with 10.3% more welfare benefit enquiries. The main increases being:

• 20.7% increase about disability benefits (PIP/DLA) • 12.4% increase about employment and support allowance • 2.6% increase about attendance allowance

Police appeal after Kingsteignton hit and run

Police are urgently appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision in Kingsteignton on Saturday 8th April in which a pedestrian received life threatening injuries having been struck by a vehicle which left the scene.

The collision happened in Gestridge Road at around 12.50am when a 25 year old man from Kingsteignton was struck by a small silver car, possibly a darker colour, which was traveling in the direction of Fore Street.

Ottery St Mary coffee shop and children’s play kingdom Tickety-Boo is to support Honeylands Children’s Charity over the coming year.

This is the first charity partnership for the venture, which opened in August 2016.
