Putting people first in Exeter and Devon – time to have your say

Engagement is underway on the city council’s proposals for the future reorganisation of local government in Devon.

Councillors backed proposals for the geography for a potential new unitary authority which includes the city of Exeter and surrounding areas at an Extraordinary Council meeting.

The city council is proposing:

  • An urban unitary council for Exeter and the surrounding areas
  • An urban unitary council for Plymouth and adjacent Parishes
  • A rural and coastal unitary council for the remainder of Devon

Play area revamped with help from the Exeter Foundation

A play area on the outskirts of Exeter has been refurbished with help from the Exeter Foundation.

£5,000 was donated towards upgrading the children’s play area in Exton, with new equipment including a multi-play unit and swings. The existing play area was becoming unsafe and the people of Exton were keen to improve the park for the increasing number of children living in the village. The Marine Conservation Society (MCS), the UK's leading marine charity, is looking to hook up people over 50 with their first ever MCS beach clean.

The charity is running a clean up for over 50's at Exmouth Beach on Sunday June 4th. It's specifically aimed at people who were born in 1967 or before and who have never taken part in a beach clean in their half century or more.

Plans in place for victory parades should Exeter teams triumph

Exeter is gearing up for a weekend of sporting celebration as two of its teams prepare for Finals at Twickenham and Wembley.

Exeter City Council has thrown its support behind the Chiefs and the Grecians and has put in place plans for open-top bus parades and civic receptions next week should the teams triumph. Exeter researchers take on 350 mile cycle challenge to defeat dementia

A team of six passionate dementia researchers from the University of Exeter are uniting against dementia and cycling 350 miles from London to Paris in a bid to raise £12,000 for the charity Alzheimer’s Society.
