When people think about dementia, they often think about memory loss, diagnosis or the practical aspects of care.

What is spoken about far less is the emotional toll of trying to navigate support systems whilst also coping with the reality of someone you care about living with dementia.

There was double celebration for retired teacher and volunteer Richard Parker as he was crowned People’s Champion of the Year 2017 along with receiving the Lifetime Achievement award at Teignbridge’s Sports and Community Awards.

The former Teign School teacher has dedicated more than 40 years’ service in education, integrating his love for the outdoors in the school curriculum. Dick was also the recipient of the Army’s Platinum Award for this work on the Ten Tors.

Enjoy free cream tea at historic mill thanks to National Lottery!

One of Exeter’s historic attractions is opening its doors to visitors for free tours and cream teas.

Cricklepit Mill is the venue for the event which takes place between 10am and 12 noon on Friday 15 December. The historic watermill is home to the charity Devon Wildlife Trust and is located on Commercial Road close to the city’s Quay.

There are many myths surrounding hospices, one of the biggest misconceptions is that if you get admitted to one, it’s because you are about to die. That’s certainly the impression Bronia Rosier and her family had when she was referred to local charity, Hospiscare.

Bronia, 56, from Ottery St Mary, was diagnosed with a tumour two years ago. Lightfoot joins Exeter City Futures network and launches further local beta devices to tackle congestion in the city

Lightfoot, the world’s first connected car technology and platform for rewarding better drivers, is adding a further 100 drivers to the next phase of their Exeter pilot.

The chosen individuals were selected to be given Lightfoot devices worth £100 each as part of a local beta recruitment programme that ran earlier this year.

Teignbridge District Council is warning residents not to give their personal details over the phone as bogus callers target the area.

Insulation companies have been contacting local residents about cavity wall insulation and are claiming to work for Teignbridge.

Local residents are being advised that the cavity wall insulation they have installed is not up to standard and they are at risk of ending up with damp problems. This is followed by a claim that they can claim compensation from the company who did the installation.
