Devon Young Carers shine at the 2025 Young Carers Festival

Seventeen young carers from across Devon have enjoyed a well-deserved break from their caring responsibilities at the largest festival in the world dedicated to young people with unpaid caring roles.

It’s the 25th year that Devon Young Carers has attended the Young Carers Festival at YMCA Fairthorne Manor at Botley in Hampshire. Four dedicated staff members, one volunteer, and one inspiring Adult Young Carer accompanied them on a two-night adventure packed with connection, laughter, and discovery - a well-deserved break from their day-to-day caring roles at home.

Climate change is already a significant public health issue and a looming global health emergency, new research shows.

The findings, outlined in The Lancet medical journal, demonstrate the various ways climate change is already affecting the health of people across the planet.

Leading doctors, academics and policy professionals from 24 organisations – including the University of Exeter – worked on the report.

Applications are now open for a new course giving people the chance to become a key part of a hospital operating team.

The RD&E and other NHS partners in Devon and Cornwall have teamed up with Birmingham City University to launch a two-year Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) course.

Updated plans for a footbridge to replace Alma Bridge in Sidmouth will be presented to local town councillors on Monday (6 November).

Devon County Council had put forward proposals for a structure over the River Sid which included short flights of steps at either end of the bridge. University level students at ‘Gold’ rated Exeter College celebrated their graduation in the spectacular surroundings of Exeter Cathedral.

More than 165 students from the Centre for University Level Studies donned their caps and gowns for a grand procession through the city centre on their way to the Cathedral (Friday, October 20th).

This year’s graduation comes after a year of success for University Level studies at Exeter College – with the college awarded a prestigious ‘Gold’ rating in the UK Government’s assessment of teaching excellence in higher education.

Overnight closures at Sandygate roundabout for resurfacing

Overnight closures will be needed on Sandygate roundabout and the services roundabout at Junction 30 of the M5 for two weeks while essential resurfacing work is carried out.
