Exeter Racecourse has launched a brand-new Community Raceday and is inviting people across Devon to nominate a community hero who deserves recognition.

Community Raceday takes place on Friday, February 20, during half term, and coincides with Devon Day at the racecourse. The initiative celebrates the people who make a real difference in their communities – from volunteers and carers to sports coaches, fundraisers and quiet grafters who go above and beyond.

Exeter Racecourse concluded its season against the backdrop of blue skies and a plethora of colour as ladies and gentlemen from across the region converged to celebrate Heavitree-sponsored Ladies Night.

Devon Contract Waste, RGB Building Supplies and Exmouth-based Thomson Reuters, have pledged their support for Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) fundraising Rainbow Run which takes place on Saturday 9 June at Exeter’s Westpoint.

World-class professor takes lead role at Medical School

A world-leading expert in the economics of health is joining the University of Exeter Medical School’s senior team.

Professor Richard Smith will move to Exeter from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where he is currently Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and Policy. A new business called Art and Energy is starting up in Exeter to help put the city at the forefront of new and exciting ideas for solar energy based art works. Renewable energy sites that are also art works could be developed over the next few years that really tell a different and relevant story across the city.

High quality recycling now being transported to processing plants across the UK and Europe

East Devon District Council has invested in a giant sorting and baling machine to separate more than 5,000 tonnes of recycling a year collected from residents across the district.

Members of the public are invited to come and see what it’s like to work in a hospital operating theatre during an open day at North Devon District Hospital (NDDH) on National Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) Day.
