Guitar indie-pop band Pale Waves and Mercury-nominated The Big Moon are the latest acts heading to the south Devon countryside for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

The bands are joining the line-up for seven-time GRAMMY Award winning Canadian / American artist Alanis Morissette ’s headline show with special guest musical powerhouse Skunk Anansie at TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham on Friday June 26.

Evening and weekend appointments with Devon GPs now available

Patients across Devon will be able to make routine GP appointments in evenings and at weekends from this month.

The aim of the GP improved access service is to make it easier for people to get an appointment at a time that suits them.

This new scheme is an extension of the usual GP practice services that patients across Devon will be used to – it is not a walk-in service. Patients will still need to contact their GP practices directly to make an appointment if they want to see a GP between the longer opening hours during weekday evenings, weekends and bank holidays....

The Lord Lieutenant of Devon has appointed the Countess of Arran MBE DL to be the new Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Devon following the sad death of the previous incumbent, Sir John Cave Bt, who died in June.

The Countess of Arran has a distinguished record as a landowner at Castle Hill, Filleigh in North Devon living at her family, the Fortescue’s Estate where she has been actively involved with the development of agriculture and leisure over the years. People who live in Devon and Cornwall may be getting a text message from the Environment Agency this week to let them know they have been automatically registered for free flood warnings.

People on the Three mobile network who live in areas at high risk of flooding across the South West will receive an automated text message informing them that they have been signed up, with a link to let them know what they should do if they receive a flood warning, and the option to opt out.

On 9th of October The Ground UP will raise the roof on their first natural building programme, erecting the reciprocal roof made from locally grown larch and using traditional joinery techniques and hand tools; on the grounds of Embercombe an educational centre in the Teign Valley 7 miles south of Exeter. An award-winning illusionist from Torbay is promising a magical time for all when she launches new exercise classes for older people and those with limited mobility.

Motorists travelling from Topsham to Exeter are being urged to allow extra time for their journey over the next four weeks due to urgent repairs being carried out on an unstable wall in Station Road.
