Stagecoach South West, together with representatives of Devon County Council and East Devon District Council, has launched CONNexIONS – the new name for route 56. An exciting stage of regeneration in Newton Abbot town centre has been unveiled as a new glass canopy and colourful render welcome visitors to Market Walk shopping centre.

In September 2017, Teignbridge’s Full Council approved a major investment package for Market Walk shopping centre. Councillors unanimously supported the £2million upgrade scheme to modernise the shopping centre and create an open and spacious place to visit and shop.

A bumper month for Seaton Wetlands!

Throughout July, work has taken place at Seaton Wetlands to remove overhead power cables and move them underground. The work has caused disruption to visitors who were unable to access the site car park for most of the month. The work culminated in late July when a helicopter flew over the wetlands to remove the electricity posts.

The site is now open to visitors as usual and the overhead power cables which used to stretch across the Axe Valley have now been removed.

£950 raised for Devon causes

Local causes are set to benefit from a week of fundraising by retail colleagues across Devon.

Southern Co-op challenged its colleagues to raise as much money as possible for their local charity partner and they smashed it by raising £950.

The amount raised in Devon was added together with all of the Southern Co-op’s retail stores and funeral homes in the south of England to make a final total of £30,000.

200th volunteer joins the search for Devon’s Roman history

The 200th volunteer has joined the search for more clues about the Roman occupation of Devon at a major archaeological dig in the county.

Members of the community and experts from the University of Exeter are once again investigating fields near Ipplepen, in South Devon, to discover more about a site occupied by Iron Age, Roman, and early medieval communities who lived more than a thousand years ago.

Chamber Opera Tours bring Jane Austen's Persuasion: A Musical Drama to Devon

Barbara Landis, artistic director of Chamber Opera Tours, found Jane Austen’s language so perfect that it begged to be adapted to theatrical lyrics. The adapted original musical drama of Jane Austen’s Persuasion, which first premiered at the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago in 2011, has been touring internationally since 2013.
