Guitar indie-pop band Pale Waves and Mercury-nominated The Big Moon are the latest acts heading to the south Devon countryside for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

The bands are joining the line-up for seven-time GRAMMY Award winning Canadian / American artist Alanis Morissette ’s headline show with special guest musical powerhouse Skunk Anansie at TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham on Friday June 26.

The doors to the Great Barn at Buckland Abbey have swung open this weekend to reveal a Christmas tree with a twist. Visitors to this National Trust property near Tavistock found a dramatic display of 20,000 pine cones that have been lovingly assembled by visitors, local scout groups and volunteers to create a unique festive display inspired by the natural world. Child cruelty and neglect crimes double over five years

Child cruelty and neglect offences in the UK have doubled over the last five years, the NSPCC has revealed. There were 16,939 child cruelty and neglect offences recorded by police in 2017/18, up from 7,965 in 2012/13. The rise for the same five-year period is even more dramatic in the South West, where police forces in the region recorded 312 child cruelty and neglect offences in 2012/2013 to 1,618 offences in 2017/18 – a fivefold increase.

Libraries Unlimited, the charity that runs Devon Libraries and Torbay Libraries, has appointed Professor William Harvey as Chair of the Board of trustees.

Registration for Hospiscare’s Men’s Walk 2019 is now open! The popular Exeter event, which is taking place on Saturday 16 March, promises to be the best yet, with the opportunity to watch the England v Scotland game on huge LED in the Men’s Walk exclusive Hospiscare Six Nations bar.
