Work to start on Heavitree Road bus improvements

Improvement work to enhance bus services on Heavitree Road in Exeter will get underway next month (February).

The scheme, which will start on Monday 2 February, involves the construction of a new traffic island and installation of a new set of traffic signals at the end of the outbound (eastbound) bus lane between Grendon Road and Polsloe Road/Barrack Road.

A county-wide pilot designed to train a new generation of frontline nursing staff has proved to be a great success as its first wave of recruits near the end of their training.

A teenager from Devon has been sharing her experiences of being a young person during a special day at the NSPCC’s headquarters in London. Nikita, 20, from Devon is a Youth Ambassador for the children’s charity and was chosen to lead a session with around 30 young people who descended on the NSPCC’s London offices recently as part of its annual Invaders Day.

The day gives people working at the NSPCC a chance to consult with young people and influence their work, while allowing them to find out more about the work the charity does day-to-day.

Chilcotts Auctioneers are selling Honiton’s ‘Silent Soldiers’, raising funds for the Royal British Legion.

The seven silhouette soldiers had been on display around the town during the approach to Armistice Day, guarding the gateways to the town and attracting lots of attention from the media and visitors.
