Nationwide and Dementia UK’s free face-to-face clinics are returning to Nationwide’s Torquay, Plymouth and Exmouth branches this February, offering specialist support in a safe, comfortable and private space for people to discuss any aspect of dementia.

Local bands and solo performers are being given the opportunity to take to the stage at this year’s all new Exeter Festival.

The call has gone out for local talent to appear at the Festival, which takes place during the first weekend of July.

Bands and solo performers are being asked to send in examples of their music to Festival organisers, who will then select the acts.

The final weekend of lane restrictions at Exe Bridges will take place this weekend (6 and 7 April).

Lane restrictions will again be in place in order to complete resurfacing and waterproofing work on Exe Bridge South.

Retail therapy with a difference will bring mental health to the high street when a charity opens its first-ever shop in Exmouth.

Pete’s Dragons will give shoppers the chance to look after their minds and bodies while bagging a bargain at its outlet in Rolle Street.

The cause has issued an appeal for help, donations and volunteers ahead of the store’s grand opening in later this month. Work is currently under way to transform the premises, formerly The Hub.

Today (5th April 2019) has seen the official opening of Starcross and Cockwood’s £4.8 million flood defence scheme. The new coastal defences include four new flood gates, newly raised ground, slipway improvements and nearly 600 metres of raised and refurbished flood walls.

Alongside the project’s flood defence benefits, the project has included work to enhance habitats for local wildlife and to improve walkways for residents around Cockwood Harbour.

SSAFA Devon will be showcasing designs from Sir Norman Hartnell, a world-famous haute couture designer, to raise money and awareness for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

On Friday 5th and Saturday 6th April, SSAFA Devon will be hosting a private collection of gowns, drawings and memorabilia by the late Sir Norman Hartnell KCVO, dress designer to Her Majesty the Queen, at The Guildhall in Exeter.

Sir Norman Hartnell was pre-eminent during the 40’s and 50’s dressing such stars as Vivien Leigh, Gertrude Lawrence, Marlène Dietrich and Elizabeth Taylor.
