The first phase of Exmouth’s Queen’s Drive development – a new road and car park - is nearing completion, paving the way for the building of the new water sports centre.

To put the finishing touch to the current works, residents and visitors to Exmouth are being alerted to road closures along Queen’s Drive later this month (May) as contractors create a kerb line across the old road to link into the new road.

People will be able to access the Queen’s Drive car park throughout the diversion period from either the Ocean building side (west) or the Maer approach (east) but the small stretch of road in between will not be a through route for the duration. The diversions and road closure are being put in place from Monday 20 May to Friday 31 May and will be fully signposted. During the Bank Holiday weekend - 25, 26, 27 May - both the old Queen’s Drive car park and the new car park will be available.

East Devon District Council is funding the newly aligned road and car park and is on target to complete it by Wednesday 19 June. Following completion, developers Grenadier will take on the lease for the site for phase two of the project - the water sports centre development. Work is expected to start on this site later this year.
