Science on tap: Exeter pubs to host Pint of Science 2026 

Some of Exeter’s best-loved pubs will be hosting this year’s Pint of Science, offering up fascinating talks on everything from atoms and galaxies to understanding neurodiversity.

Running from 18-20 May, this year’s festival marks the 13th edition of the annual event, which brings researchers out of the lab and into local bars in 42 cities across the UK.

In Exeter, venues including the Bootlegger, Arcadia and City Gate Hotel will transform into hubs of scientific discussion with informative talks, demonstrations, live experiments, and a multi-city pub quiz competition....

Exeter Foodbank gets £250 boost from local retirement house builder

The McCarthy and Stone team at the Pinnoc Mews Retirement Living development on Bakers Way in Exeter has donated £250 to the Exeter Foodbank.

The Exeter Foodbank was originally founded in 2008 by local churches and community groups to help local people in need. The donation by McCarthy and Stone will help with the day-to-day running of the Foodbank, which offers three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to those who are in crisis.

Storm clear-up costs expected to rise

The repair and clear-up bill from Storm Dennis and Storm Ciara is expected to cost at least £200,000, according to early estimates from Devon County Council.

The authority is expecting that figure to rise as the clearance of several landslips continues and further damage is uncovered across the county.
