Topsham based Darts Farm is celebrating winning ‘Best Farm Shop’ at the Food Reader Awards this week. These highly anticipated reader-voted awards in the South West, with 100,000 online votes, crown the regions finest in the food and drink industry.

Michael Dart, Director of Darts Farm says: “To have been a finalist in such great company is amazing, but to have won is incredible; especially as we hosted this prestigious awards ceremony here at Darts Farm this year! It’s a terrific achievement and we are so proud; not only of the great team we have here at Darts Farm, but of our knowledgeable and passionate local suppliers, our dedicated, carefully handpicked specialist retailers and our innovative independent boutiques.”

James Dart, Director of Darts Farm continues: “The South West has so much to shout about on both a national and international level, producing some of the very best products available. It is vital for everyone to buy and support local, which will help reduce food miles and have a positive impact on the environment.”

A shining light in the West Country, Topsham’s Darts Farm is a truly inspirational Farm Shop, with a working farm at the heart. It started off as a small pick-your-own, but with the ongoing commitment, hard work and dedication the three Dart brothers have shown, it has now become a hub showcasing the very best from the West Country, with over 300 local people employed onsite. Darts Farm remains a family business run by the three Dart brothers; the retail looked after by Michael and James and the farm by Paul.

Homegrown seasonal fruit and vegetables makes its short journey from field to shop every day; flowers are grown for the florist and their herd Ruby Red cattle are reared on the banks of the river Clyst. Supporting local artisan producers is important, but so to, is giving back. Darts Farm support initiatives in the community, clean energy, recycling and with the RSPB. Offering tastings, events and workshops, its own ‘Energy Hair’ salon and ‘Treatment Loft’, Darts Farm really is ‘The ‘Best Farm Shop’!

Food Magazine is the South West’s original leading food magazine providing foodies of the South West and visitors hand-picked places to eat, stay and shop and cook since 2003.
