Man charged following sexual assault on train

A 39-year-old man has been charged in connection to a report of a sexual assault on board a train between Digby and Sowton and Exmouth railway station, Devon.

The incident happened between 5.45pm and 6.10pm on Friday 27 December 2019.

Sebastian Sienko, of Imperial Road, Exmouth, has been charged with sexual assault by touching and is due to appear in Exeter Magistrates’ Court on 4 February.

British Transport Police would like to thank the media and the public for their help in sharing our earlier appeal.

Childhood friends completing Atlantic Challenge

Three Devon childhood friends are set to finish in the top 10 of one of the world’s great endurance races this weekend.

Lewis Matthews (Dawlish), Chris Slack (Newton Abbot) and Charlie Medwin (Shaldon), known collectively as “All Oar Nothing” are due to complete the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, having rowed almost 3000 miles across the ocean.

The 29-year-old trio set off from La Gomera in the Canary Islands off Spain on 12 December and are set to land in Antigua on Sunday

Exmouth’s Redgates play area has been given a new lease of life following £100,000 worth of improvements and children from the town are loving it!

East Devon District Councillors today (16 January 2020) celebrated the opening of the newly refurbished Redgates play area in Exmouth, which has been given a new lease of life following £100,000 worth of improvements.

East Devon District Council has funded the new equipment from its capital budget to replace the old play equipment which had been there for more than 30 years.

Over 50 volunteers of all ages teamed up with East Devon District Council officers, councillors and Greener Ottery on Saturday 11 January to help plant native West Country apple trees in a new community orchard in Land of Canaan, Ottery St Mary.

The project, which was organised by East Devon District Council’s Parks service in conjunction with Greener Ottery and ward member Cllr Vicky Johns, is a reflection of both the council and local community’s interest in sustainability and climate change.

Greenpeace Exeter Group invited local MP Ben Bradshaw and residents to a photographic exhibition last Saturday to show the threats our oceans are facing.

Local volunteer Claus from Heavitree said ‘We’ve put on this exhibition ahead of the final UN negotiations in March on a Global Ocean Treaty to show the risks that iconic wildlife such as penguins face from overfishing, melting ice and plastic pollution.
