GB baseball stars coming to Exeter

Women’s baseball players from across the region will descend on Exeter next month for a special tournament celebrating the growth of the sport and encouraging more women and girls to get involved.

Crochet enthusiasts in Exeter are being asked to get creative and help celebrate the Women’s Rugby World Cup coming to the city.

Crafters from across Exeter are invited to make rugby-themed crochet pieces for a yarn exhibition at Exeter’s historic Guildhall and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery (RAMM).

An Exeter club has made history as it hosted its first junior wheelchair basketball event in Devon, welcoming young players from across the region to take part in an inclusive day of sport.

The event, hosted by the Exeter Otters at Wonford Leisure Centre, formed part of the national Inspire a Generation U14 pilot and brought together players aged 7–14 from across Cardiff, Swansea, and Bath.

NHS Devon has issued a ‘last call’ for at-risk patients eligible for the spring 2025 Covid-19 vaccine.

The spring booster campaign ends on June 17, and patients who meet the criteria are being urged to book before it’s too late.

Covid-19 is more serious in older people and those with certain underlying health conditions. For these reasons, the vaccine is being offered to people:

  • Aged 75 years and over
  • In care homes
  • Aged six months and over with a weakened immune system.

Bike Week is being celebrated in Devon this week (9-15 June) with the news that more adults in the county took part in Devon's cycle confidence sessions last year than ever before.

A record 390 adults attended Devon County Council's sessions, delivered by Active Devon, in 2024/25 and the Council is aiming to beat that by reaching more than 500 adults this year.
