CITY Community Trust given grant to help with Coronavirus support

An Exeter charity that jumped at the chance of helping out during the Coronavirus outbreak has been awarded a grant from the City Council.

CITY Community Trust has been given nearly £1,000 by the Exeter Covid-19 Community Action Fund.

The £1 million Fund is being run by Exeter City Council as part of the Exeter Community Wellbeing initiative and is supported by Exeter Chiefs Foundation.

Bus company Stagecoach South West has announced that it is temporarily withdrawing its Falcon coach service that operates between Plymouth and Bristol. Waste collection crews in Exeter are receiving messages of goodwill from the people of the city, the man in charge of collections has revealed. He has also stressed how important it is for people to keep recycling during the crisis.

More than 100 organisations across Devon, Plymouth and Torbay have shared personal protective equipment (PPE) to strengthen the supplies available to frontline carers in the county.

Last week, NHS and social care leaders in Devon wrote to businesses and organisations across the county encouraging them to share PPE they don’t need to bolster the national supplies that are being delivered to the area.

Devon residents including job seekers, students back from university, college leavers and former care and health staff are needed now to support the county’s most vulnerable.

Healthcare Assistants are a frontline role to support Devon's NHS and social care as coronavirus puts even greater pressure on existing services and staff.
