Team FORCE smash it at the 2026 Great West Run

Team FORCE has again pulled out all the stops at this year’s Great West Run.

Nearly 450 people ran either the half marathon or 10K around the streets of Exeter and beyond in Sunday’s sweltering heat to support FORCE Cancer Charity.

Between them they have raised more than £135,000 so far, which will support local people dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

Chloe Richardson, event fundraiser for FORCE, said: “It was a great day and we are astounded by the support and love for FORCE from our runners.

Residents in the South West, who have recently bought or adopted a puppy are being asked to sign up to the first ever study to follow dogs of all breeds throughout their lives to help understand contributing factors to dogs’ health and behaviour.

Generation Pup, funded and operated by Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, which has rehoming centres in Ilfracombe and Salisbury, has almost reached the milestone of recruiting 10,000 puppies and is on the hunt for the final few hundred pooches under 16 weeks to join the project.

Cumberland Grange care home, in Exeter was full of excitement on Monday when a friendly therapy pony came to visit the home.

Residents at Cumberland Grange were pleasantly surprised to see Peppa the miniature pony walk through the home and pay visits to individual residents, offering up lots of opportunities for fussing.

To celebrate 40 years, White Stuff is hitting the road with a summer ice cream truck tour, which includes a day in Exeter.

A group of graduate paramedic apprentices were recently honoured at a celebratory event at Westpoint Exeter after successfully completing their BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science Degree Level Apprenticeship.

The fully-funded programme is delivered in partnership between the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) and the University of Cumbria. It allows frontline clinicians to earn a degree while continuing to work, making the path to becoming a paramedic more accessible.
