Inclusive Exeter food project helped more than 1,000 people

A PARTNERSHIP of grassroots community organisations helped more than 1,000 people during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Inclusive Exeter, a community partnership established to give Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) people in Exeter a greater voice, operated an emergency food project for several months to support people from the BAME community and wider community across Exeter when it was needed.

Sing & Smile sessions for Golden Oldies

Daytime Sing & Smile sessions for the Golden-Oldies Charity are a big hit with hundreds of older people living across Exeter.

Following the enforced closure of all sessions in March the charity introduced twice weekly sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays led by Rachel Parry and Cheryl Davies – two of the Goldies session leaders.

Swimmer plucked from Exe as chance passing saves life

A chance passing of a buoy on the ‘wrong’ side saved the life of a stranded swimmer, Exeter City Council has revealed.

The fortunate swimmer – who was suffering the early stages of hypothermia - was plucked out of the Exe Estuary one mile from shore by the City Council’s Harbour Patrol team. The rescue happened last Wednesday.

Exeter Airport welcomes the return of flights to Manchester and Jersey from today, both served by Blue Islands.

Services to Manchester and Jersey were core to the airport over a number of years, attracting thousands of regular travellers from the South West, serving business and leisure passengers.

Co-op is set to serve-up a new food store in Exeter this week following a more than £625,000 investment creating 13 local jobs.
