A funeral home in Exeter has helped bring Easter joy to the local community and children in need after donating 205 chocolate eggs and ‘bags of hope’.

The treats were gathered through a collection donation drive organised by the team at Co-op Funeralcare Exeter on Cowick Street, in St Thomas Shopping Centre, with some of the Easter eggs donated to children living in temporary accommodation in the city.

The Bags of Hope initiative, run by The Salvation Army, aims to spread joy and kindness during the Easter period. The Exeter team spotted the project and launched a call-out to their local community to donate as many Easter eggs as possible.

Thanks to the generosity of the community and local businesses, the branch quickly surpassed its original goal of collecting 140 eggs for the initiative just in time for Easter.

Wai Crawley, Funeral Arranger at Co-op Funeralcare Exeter, said: “We are very grateful to our friends, families, coffee morning attendees and the local St Thomas Community for helping us to spread a little joy this Easter – thank you!”
