Devon County Show launches first‑ever Community Growing Hub

The Devon County Show is proud to announce the launch of its first‑ever Community Growing Hub, a major new feature for 2026 designed to inspire visitors of all ages to get growing, get gardening, and get connected. Communities across Devon have the chance to rehome every-day items they no longer need simply by leaving them outside their front door every Tuesday, starting 6th April.

The new initiative is called ‘Tuesday Tables’ and is part of Recycle Devon’s commitment to help residents reduce the amount of waste we throw away.

Tuesday Tables encourages people to pass on items they no longer need so that they can be used by someone that may benefit.

East Devon District Council (EDDC) is busily preparing for the next stages in the Governments’ pandemic roadmap aimed at easing the country towards a less restrictive way of life in the coming months.

From Monday, 29 March people have been able to:

  • Meet outside in groups of up to six people and up to two households including in private gardens.
  • Use outdoor sports courts, areas and pools, including skatepark.

North Devon Hospice has been selected by local employees at Mondelēz International’s Ernest Jackson site to receive a donation of £5,000.

Providing specialist care and support to those living with a life-limiting illness, the charity will be granted the substantial figure from The Cadbury Foundation, as part of its ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ scheme.

Only one in five adults with autism are in paid work in the UK. This week (29 March - 4 April) is World Autism Awareness Week which shines a light on the challenges and barriers to employment that autistic people face. Chris Christie, 22, from Exeter, has autism but has managed to secure employment with the Environment Agency.

Employment specialist Seetec Pluss supported Chris and helps other individuals with autism and learning disabilities to fulfil their potential, as well as working with employers to encourage them to think differntly.

Exmouth RNLI volunteer crew members launched today to rescue two paddleboarders needing help in the sea off the Exmouth coastline.

At 2.22pm today Tuesday 30 March 2021 the Exmouth RNLI Inshore Lifeboat D-805 George Bearman II was tasked by H.M. Coastguard to a report of two female paddleboarders who had become distressed some distance from the shore and found themselves unable to make progress.
