Amy tackles huge challenge to thank FORCE

Twelve months ago, Amy Martin could barely run at all after a tough regime of cancer treatment.

But on Sunday May 24, she’ll be one of 440 people lining up as part of Team FORCE at Exeter’s Great West Run.

Amy aims to raise £1,000 for FORCE Cancer Charity to say thank you for all the support she has received from them since a diagnosis of breast cancer in late 2023.

Long-serving Councillor Yolonda Henson is the new lord mayor of Exeter.

The member for St Loyes (Conservative) will perform the politically neutral, ceremonial role for a year after being elected at the historic Guildhall on Tuesday [18 May].

The bathing water season started on 15 May with the Environment Agency carrying out regular testing of water quality at designated bathing sites across Devon and Cornwall until the end of September. High standards of water quality at swimming locations are important for everyone’s enjoyment of beaches across the south west. Throughout the bathing season the Environment Agency will issue warnings of any forecasted pollution risk on its Swimfo website. An Exeter care home resident who beat Covid, has celebrated her 103rdbirthday.

Muriel Dunford, who lives at The Old Rectory, contracted the virus in January 2021, but remained asymptomatic.
