Guitar indie-pop band Pale Waves and Mercury-nominated The Big Moon are the latest acts heading to the south Devon countryside for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

The bands are joining the line-up for seven-time GRAMMY Award winning Canadian / American artist Alanis Morissette ’s headline show with special guest musical powerhouse Skunk Anansie at TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham on Friday June 26.

Local housebuilder Redrow donated a gift hamper and £100 voucher to Alphington Primary School for its annual summer fete. The donations were given to the school as prizes for the fete raffle, which was planned to raise money for new school equipment. The fete has been crowned a resounding success with £3,000 raised, half of which came from the highly appealing raffle which saw lucky winners receive £100 to spend in John Lewis and a hamper containing a selection of delicious gifts from M&S .

Animal lover Penny Baxter is preparing to trek from Bude to an Exeter research building, to fundraise for the University of Exeter's Animal Free Research UK Centre of Excellence (ARC).

On Wednesday August 24, Penny Baxter , will run, walk, and crawl the 55 miles from Bude to Exeter's Research, Innovation, Learning, and Development (RILD) building on Barrack Road. Exeter children’s charity shop celebrates grand reopening

Jelly, a charity shop in Exeter selling low cost, preloved children’s clothes, toys and books, has celebrated its grand reopening after refurbishment.

Part of local charity, Exeter Community Initiatives, the Jelly shop was officially opened by Jelly Bear. The fun packed day included a set from Exeter-based singer, Hannah Ruby, goodie bags for the first 50 customers, face painting, cakes and a giant raffle! This week Stagecoach South West are marking the 20th year of it’s oldest operational bus an ALX400 Trident, fleet number 17701, with a special in service birthday party. The event has been organised by Stagecoach South West Exeter driver, Damien Gardner who has a particular soft spot for the vehicle. Customer’s will be treated to birthday cake, a host of goodie bags plus get to see the bus kitted out with decorations!

EV-driving holidaymakers visiting Devon and Cornwall this summer can now access rapid charging thanks to a breakthrough solution from Western Power Distribution (WPD) that has gone live at Moto’s Exeter motorway services. The electricity distribution network operator has installed and switched on its innovative ‘Take Charge’ technology which aims to make rapid charging at motorway service stations easier for both service station operators and customers.

The local branch of sight loss charity Guide Dogs is urgently appealing for a volunteer assistant treasurer to join the Exeter fundraising group. This role is vital for the group to continue, as it involves banking money raised from collections to help raise much-needed funds.

No specific expertise is required, and full training is given. This role will work alongside the current long-serving volunteer who is stepping down very soon.

When two of ginger cat Sadie’s owners moved house, the series of changes proved too much for the mature moggie who now needs a home with space to call her own.

Ten-year-old Sadie has been in and out of Cats Protection’s care since 2017. Through no fault of her own, the change-averse puss lived happily with two owners in succession who unfortunately both needed to move house. After adjusting to one move, the second became more difficult to tolerate and now Sadie can sometimes show her feisty side while trying to settle in new homes.

A Devon woman with incurable cancer is taking part in a rally across Europe in a converted London taxi called Daisy to raise money for charity.

Rachel Stewart and husband Mark will drive their distinctive white cab in the Motoscape Road Trip to Prague, going through 12 countries in seven days.

They’re doing it in aid of Exeter-based FORCE Cancer Charity and national organisation Make 2nds Count.
