Gandy Street is the place to be on the First Thursdays of the month this summer

First Thursdays is a new event you won’t want to miss.

From June to September, Gandy Street will come alive on the first Thursday of each month, with a festival atmosphere in the early evening.

The first event takes place on Thursday 4 June, 5–8pm. Expect late-night shopping, live music, street entertainment, extended opening hours at cultural venues and a cocktail trail. All your favourite businesses on Gandy Street and in the surrounding area will be open, including:

Guests enjoyed an afternoon of fun, food and inflatable flamingos when Lympstone Manor celebrated the first anniversary of its pool opening.

Chef and patron Michael Caines MBE welcomed around 160 people to the event with many of them shedding their party gear to take a dip.

His team of chefs rustled up a never-ending conveyor belt of tasty treats ranging from rump steak, pizzas cooked in an outside oven and lobster rolls with mango, lime and curried mayonnaise.

A top Devon primary care vet practice is throwing open its doors for one day only so pet owners can meet the team and view its first-class facilities.

The fun-packed afternoon takes place at Linnaeus-owned City Vets’ Heavitree Hospital on Saturday, June 17, between 2pm and 5pm, and will see plenty of activities on offer, plus a starring role by Guide Dogs.

Police investigate spate of aggravated burglaries in Exeter

Police are currently investigating two incidents of aggravated burglary which happened in the St Thomas area of Exeter.

The first incident took place at the Dawn ‘til Dark Premier Store, on Princes Street East, at around 9pm on Monday 10 April. A man, dressed in grey hoody, black trousers with a concealed face, entered the store and demanded money from the till.

Exeter’s homelessness charities in fresh bid to halt £1.5m budget cut, after more than 900 objections are received

Representatives of charities supporting homeless people in Exeter will address scrutiny councillors next week, hoping to persuade Devon County Council to drop plans to axe its £1.5m homelessness prevention budget.
