Exeter Racecourse has teamed up with leading trainer David Pipe to launch an exciting new initiative designed to welcome families and inspire the next generation of racing fans.

To mark the partnership, David Pipe is inviting families to enjoy a free behind-the-scenes tour of his Culmstock yard, where visitors can experience the thrill of trying an Equicisor – a racehorse simulator that replicates the feeling of riding a thoroughbred in training. New junction on outskirts of Exeter set to open

The final highway scheme of major infrastructure improvements in south west Exeter has been delivered and will open next week.

The new Chudleigh Road link will open to traffic on Monday (19 January), providing a new signal controlled junction with the A379.

This new road layout replaces the current junction between Chudleigh Road and the A379, completing the switch to the new road alignment. The former route will be permanently closed to motor vehicles.

A new research and community project, funded by a £249,000 grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, will excavate a rare Roman villa in Devon containing archaeologically significant mosaics.

The villa, located beneath farmland in the parish of Halberton, is understood to have polychrome mosaics – colourful and pictorial tiled floors popular during the Roman era. If so, it will be the most westerly example of the style yet found in the country.

Exeter Racecourse has launched a brand-new Community Raceday and is inviting people across Devon to nominate a community hero who deserves recognition.

Middlemoor roundabout traffic signals will take time to repair

Devon County Council is urging motorists to take extra care at Middlemoor roundabout while traffic signals at the junction remain out of action.

The traffic lights were damaged by a car which struck the controller unit of the system at the start of the Christmas period.

Children from Exwick Heights Primary School enjoyed a hands-on visit to Powderham Castle, exploring the historic building and taking part in practical activities inspired by life in the past.

During the visit, Year 2 pupils baked traditional griddle cakes, helped with household tasks such as dusting the chapel and beating carpets, and explored the castle’s rooms and hidden doors.
