Live music fans are set for another celebration of amazing entertainment in the Devon countryside as TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham confirms its return for 2026.

Following its debut outing at the historic country estate this July, which saw headline performances from Duran Duran and Basement Jaxx, Live Nation’s Cuffe and Taylor are now planning for a bigger and better event next summer with plans to unveil the first 2026 headliner in the coming weeks.

Average Exeter debt rises by over £1,000

The average level of debt among clients of Exeter Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) has risen by over £1,000 according to figures released by the local charity today.

The average clients’ debt now stands at £13,450 up by £1,091 on the previous year.

Some commentators have warned that high levels of personal debt in Britain may bring problems in later life with new research from Bristol University showing a strong link between financial problems and poor mental well-being in older people.

East Devon District Council is launching a series of regular advice surgeries where residents who have queries about Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support can get help and guidance.

Fire Crews attend second car blaze in Exeter this weekend

It has been another busy weekend for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, with crews being called to a second blaze near Exeter city centre.

Crews attended the incident at the A38 B Carriageway between Splatford Split and Pearces Hill due to a Land Rover fire.

The incident, which occured at 1.36pm today ( Sunday 26th January), resulted in two fire appliances from Middlemoor and Danes Castle being mobilised.

Crews used 2BA and 2 hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, which started accidentally and caused severe damage.

Polar bears and Inuit communities have become victims in the public war of words on climate change and wildlife conservation, according to researchers from Britain and Canada.

University of Exeter geographer Dr Martina Tyrrell and Dr Doug Clark from the University of Saskatchewan’s School of Environment and Sustainability examined the fallout from a media campaign in the run-up to the March 2013 proposal to severely limit or prohibit trade in polar bears under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).

Fire crew rescue child locked in car

An 18 month old child was last night rescued by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service after becoming locked in a car.

The fire service were called to the incident, which took place in Liverton business Park, Salterton Road, Exmouth at 6.22 pm on Saturday 25th Febuary.

One fire engine from Exmouth was mobilised to reports of an 18 month old locked in a car by accident. Crews used small tools to gain entry to the car and the child was released unharmed by firefighters.

Car blaze in Exeter city centre

Crew from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to a car blaze in Exeter City Centre this afternoon.

One appliance from Danes Castle was mobilised following a report to the Fire Service Control Room of a vehicle on fire in South Street.

Crews arrived at the scene at around 2pm and confirmed a small fire had occured within a rear light cluster of a car.

The area was made safe before appliances left the scene.
