HEALTH conscious Manuka honey fans should ensure that what they are buying is genuine after it was revealed that five out of six jars are fake. The warning came as Channel Four’s Dispatches programme this week (Monday, March 17) documented figures which show that UK consumption of the immune boosting honey exceeds global production. And with jars of Manuka honey selling for up to £45, someone somewhere is making a tidy fortune, the programme claimed. Recently the UK Food Standards Agency issued a warning about unscrupulous traders looking to make a quick buck by flooding the market with ‘...

Exeter Citizen’s Advice Bureau has said that the Government must do more to work for “those who are making do and can’t save” and warns that many of the government’s austerity cuts “have yet to bite”.

The budget, described by Mr Osborne as one for “makers, doers and savers”, included a range of new measures including raising the personal income allowance, introducing new pensions rules and a ‘New Isa’ with a tax free saving limit of £15,000 per...

The Benefits of Older Cats

RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter in Exeter is currently struggling under the weight of many abandoned old cats all looking for new homes, but being sadly overlooked for younger models. Older cats are having to spend far longer in rescue centres, causing their stress levels to rise whilst waiting for new furever homes.

The problem in rescues could certainly be helped by local landlords relaxing their anti-cat stance when it comes to rented property. Certainly, in Little Valley's view, a cat is not a destructive creature and yet landlords are reluctant to let tenants have cats...
