Exeter will be stepping back in time next month when the 80s Day Disco hits Fever on Saturday 16 August 2025.

Running from 3pm to 8pm, the five-hour daytime party promises a soundtrack packed with some of the biggest hits of the decade – from Michael Jackson and Madonna to Queen, Prince, and more.

Family pay tribute to teen who died in crash

The family of a Cullompton teenager who died in a motorcycle collision have paid a moving tribute to him.

Eighteen-year-old Mason Jones died from his injuries after the Yamaha motorcycle he was travelling on was involved in a collision at around 10.30pm last Tuesday (22 July) on the A3440 near Uffculme.

Cycling heroes preview Devon stage of the Tour of Britain

Professional cycling stars past and present will help launch this year’s Devon Stage of the Friends Life Tour of Britain.

Chris Opie, of Rapha Condor JLT, and Dale Appleby, from NFTO Pro Cycling, will be joined by Devon based Olympian and former two-time British Road Race Champion Colin Lewis, on Friday (1 August), to check out parts of this year’s route and share their thoughts on the stage.

Otter Nurseries answers SOS from TV gardener

Otter Nurseries staff recently sprang into action after receiving an SOS phone call from Alan Titchmarsh.

The celebrity gardener was creating a garden in Bideford for his TV show, Love Your Garden and wanted to know if the East Devon garden centre had a ready supply of the specific plants needed for his garden design.

Hardy nursery worker Carla Ward-Best said: “At first we thought it was a wind up, but there’s no mistaking his voice. He was very knowledgeable about the plants he wanted, too.”

This seal pup needs a name!

The tiny South American fur seal was born at Living Coasts in Torquay early on the morning of Tuesday 3 June.

When her mother was unable to produce milk, zoo keepers stepped in to feed her creamy fish milkshakes around the clock.

Now, Torquay’s coastal zoo is giving everyone who visits the chance to vote for her name.

MPs visit South Devon Link Road site

MPs and councillors visited the South Devon Link Road construction site earlier this month for an update on current activity and to find out more about the next phase of the project.

Nearly 200 people turned out for the Devon Blue Light day at South Dartmoor community college in Ashburton yesterday (Tuesday)

It saw members of the disabled community from all across Devon assemble in the sunshine to meet Devon’s emergency services. They were given the opportunity to try out various sporting activities from tag rugby to soccer and cycle training to wheelchair basketball. Builder fined for safety failings

A Newton Abbot building sub-contractor has been fined for safety failings that caused him to suffer a fractured spine while he was demolishing a temporary school classroom near Exmouth.

William Batten, 66, trading as Bill Batten Concrete Cutting and Demolition Service, was injured when he removed key timber supports at the corners of the roof, destabilising it and causing it to collapse on top of him. The collapse was witnessed by schoolchildren in a nearby playground on their lunch break.

Allotment shed destroyed by fire

Firefighters were called to a fire at a shed on an allotment in St Thomas, Exeter, last night.

Appliances from Danes Castle and Middlemoor attended the blaze just before midnight.

On arrival crews confirmed one shed building, measuring approximately 5x5 metres, in the centre of an allotment plot well alight.

Crews used one 45mm attack jet to extinguish the fire.

The allotment shed was completely destroyed by fire which is believed to be accidental.

Exeter Northcott Theatre has put its hardworking staff centre stage as it launches its autumn 2014 Season.

To celebrate receiving Arts Council funding, the new brochure pays tribute to the fantastic team at the theatre as they make a trip back to the 1940s through the costume store.
