Police are appealing to the public to help them locate Clay Bamford who has been missing from Paignton since Monday 4th May.

14-year-old Clay has been known to have visited Exeter, Plymouth and most recently Cornwall.

Clay is described as white male, slim, 6ft, short dark brown hair with hazel eyes. Last believed to be wearing a light grey hoody, dark grey jeans, trainers, a grey baseball cap, grey Bob Marley t-shirt with a red, green and yellow...

New sporting initiative for youngsters

Two PE teachers have developed a new initiative for the sporting youth of Devon to develop their performance, whatever their sporting background.

Aimed at boys and girls aged 13 – 16, Complete Sports Preparation (CSP) aim is to improve the physical capabilities of athletes through agility, strength, power, speed and injury prevention work.

Becci Carter and Ed Jones, PE teachers with a combined 18 years of coaching experience between them, currently teach at Exeter School and were keen to make the most of the school’s ample grounds and facilities for their CSP sessions....

Conservative Hugo Swire has been re-elected by 25,401 votes as the MP for East Devon – with a majority of 12,261. This is Hugo Swire’s fourth Parliamentary victory – he first became MP in June 2001, and was subsequently re-elected in May 2005 and May 2010. It is also his largest majority since 2001.

The parliamentary election results for East Devon were declared by the Acting Returning Officer, Mark Williams, at East Devon District Council’s offices at Knowle in Sidmouth at 7.15 a.m. today (Friday 8 May).

Bradshaw trebles majority

Ben Bradshaw has retained his Exeter seat and trebled his majority.

An MP since 1997, Mr Bradshaw secured 25,062 votes, beating Tory Dom Morris, who was second with 17,879 votes.

Mr Bradshaw thanked the voters who had "put their trust" in him while Mr Morris said his rival had benefited from having a "personal brand".

Mr Bradshaw tweeted afterwards: "Thanks to amazing @exeterlabour team & people of #Exeter for fantastic result tonight, nearly trebling @exeterlabour majority here.

Mr Morris's twitter feed was unusually quiet.

ELF is building a critical care suite at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, and its partners, Pavey Group have submitted the project to the Aviva Community Fund Awards programme to win £25,000 for the project.

The critical care suite will allow patients and their families privacy and dignity in a home away from home while undergoing treatment or facing the end of life. Once shortlisted it will be up to a panel of judges to decide if the project will be funded, but we need your votes to get us through to the shortlist.

Clothing deal for Exeter's Andrei

Exeter mountain bike trial athlete Andrei Burton has joined forces with lifestyle clothing brand Saltrock in a partnership which will see the pair roll out a series of entertainment initiatives over the course of the year.

Burton is one of the UK’s most successful mountain bike trial athletes. He competes for Team GB and in 2013 was placed 6th in the UCI World Championships and 4th in the UCI European Championships.

Farmers urged to help drive down rural crime

Local farmers are being encouraged to sign up to a new police scheme to help drive down rural crime across Teignbridge and south Dartmoor.

Teignbridge neighbourhood policing team has set up the new Farmwatch scheme to help prevent and detect rural thefts and burglaries.

As part of the initiative farmers will receive information and crime warnings for their local area through the Force Community Messaging system, and will be assisted by police to better secure their property and premises against crime.

Grant success for Wave Hub researchers

University of Exeter researchers are part of the biodiversity research team of a new EUR 17 million EU Horizon 2020 funded project that will test a new wave energy converter at Wave Hub, the wave power test centre located off the north coast of Cornwall.

The five-year Clean Energy From Ocean Waves (CEFOW) project is being coordinated by Nordic company Fortum and will involve a new design of convertor called the ‘Penguin’ designed by Finnish firm Wello.
