‘Heaven Sent’ Sculpture heads to Princesshay

This spring, Princesshay will play host to a large and exciting sculpture across the Easter period for three weeks.

On 31st March, ‘Heaven Sent’, a partially complete sculpture by Exeter based artist, Simon Ruscoe, will be unveiled in Princesshay, standing on a plinth which will be specially designed to encourage the people of Exeter to support his Kickstarter campaign whilst collecting donations for NSPCC.

Independence secures future for Devon’s Youth Service

Devon’s youth services will be run by a new and independent organisation from 1 February.

The Tesco Extra store in Exeter Vale has lent a helping hand to the Amber Music Project Programme by donating £1,000. The Amber Foundation’s ‘Amber Music Project’ (AMP) will offer homeless and unemployed young people at their residential centre in Chawleigh the chance to work with a range of freelance and local musicians. Appeal after Dawlish man sprayed in face with chemicals

At around 2.30pm on Monday 30 January 2017, two men approached a man in his 50s, close to the junction with Lawn Hill and The Strand.

The man, who is an employee of a nearby shop, was taking the weekend takings to be banked. He was sprayed in the face with a substance and the cash was stolen by these two men.

The offenders made their way from the scene on foot, running up Lawn Hill, turning left on to High Street before turning right again and running up Orchard Gardens. The offenders were followed by one or two young men on push bikes.

An increase in entitlement to free childcare for pre school age children is likely to highlight a shortage of early years practitioners across the UK.

From September, the Government is doubling entitlement to free childcare for all three and four years olds, from 15 hours per week to 30 hours a week for working parents.
