People in Topsham are being asked to share photographs of their favourite views for a competition.
McCarthy Stone, the leading manager and developer of retirement communities behind the forthcoming Pym Court Retirement Living Plus development in Topsham, is looking to capture some of the architecture and culture that can be found around every corner of the town, so it can be enjoyed by its new and prospective homeowners.
The competition aims to showcase photographs of scenery, wildlife and landscapes taken by amateur photographers and members of the community that encapsulate their favourite views. These might be the well-known views of the picturesque Goat Walk, or the golden sands of the popular Exmouth Beach. They could be ‘best kept secrets’ or even have a personal meaning.
The Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Trish Oliver, will judge the competition, with the winning entrant receiving £200.
Verity McKay, Divisional Marketing Manager for McCarthy Stone Southern, commented: “The last 18 months has seen many of us rediscover the joys of walking throughout the pandemic, and exploring the outdoors has continued to remain a part of everyday life since restrictions have eased. Topsham has so many views and places to visit, and a autumnal walk is the perfect opportunity to appreciate the landscapes and landmarks on our doorstep.
“We would like to encourage people in the town to take their cameras or phones when they are on their walks, capture photographs of Topsham in all its splendour and enter our competition.”
Each entrant is permitted to submit a maximum of five photos. These should be emailed to email@example.com by the closing date of Sunday 21st November 2021 with ‘Topsham Photo Contest’ in the subject. In your email you should include your full name and a title for your photograph and where it was taken.
Open to all ages. Under 16s must ask an adult’s permission. Please ask permission of anyone who appears in your photo.
Once complete, Pym Court will provide everything the over 70s could want for an enjoyable and independent retirement. Bridging the gap between conventional retirement living and residential care, an Estate Manager and experienced team will be on hand day and night to oversee the running of the development and will also provide tailored support packages to suit individual needs.
The development will feature a large communal lounge - perfect for getting to know new neighbours - as well as an on-site bistro, which will serve fresh and nutritious meal options for homeowners every day.
More than nine out of 10 customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 16 years’ running. McCarthy Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 16 consecutive years, which is every year the awards have been run.
McCarthy Stone also received the Housebuilder Special Recognition Award 2020 for working hard to protect its customers – Covid-19 infection rates among homeowners are significantly below the national rate of infection across all age groups – and for innovation in the retirement sector.
