
Woman rescued from blaze in Exmouth flat
A woman has been rescued from a blazing flat in Exmouth.
The alarm was raised shortly after 3am today by a man who was also inside the property,

Three fire appliances from Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton were mobilised following a call from a male occupant of a flat reporting a fire and that a fellow female occupant was still inside. He had been able to remove her from the bedroom but was unable to her any further.
Within mins of arriving crews confirmed the fire was in the bedroom, rescued the lady and set to work extinguishing the fire with 1 hose reel jet, 1 safety jet and 2 breathing apparatus. The Red Cross Fire and Emergency Support Services vehicle form Devon was also mobilised, along with an Ambulance.
Update 0343hrs - Crews are at work with a positive pressure ventilation fan and 2 breathing apparatus, whilst the lady is in the hands of paramedics. Further details to follow when avail.......
Update 0430hrs - This incident is now complete, with crews bringing it under control at 0420hrs. This was a fire in the first floor bedroom of a domestic privately rented flat. One female occupant was rescued by crews, with one male occupant self rescuing prior to our arrival. Crews confirmed 2 seats of fire (one in the bedroom and one at the front door), causing severe fire, heat and smoke damage, and that this was deliberate ignition. Crews used 4 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet, 1 safety jet to extinguish it and a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke. Duty of care has been left with Police and Ambulance.
