Saltrock ambassador and mountain bike trial athlete Andrei Burton is to take part in a live Blue Peter show this Thursday 2nd July, showcasing just how much science there is in the skill of trial riding.

Burton - who earlier this year teamed up with active lifestyle clothing brand Saltrock to roll out a series of educational and other initiatives over the course of the year – will lead a team on the live Blue Peter show where, alongside Science Presenter Greg Foot who has presented a number of science items for Blue Peter before, he’ll demonstrate the skills of trial riding and uncover just how they can seemingly defy the laws of physics.

Burton is one of the UK’s most successful mountain bike trial athletes. He competes for Team GB and in 2013 was placed 6th in the UCI World Championships and 4th in the UCI European Championships.

He competes all over the world, holds three Guinness world records and has his sights set on breaking another in August. Burton also rides for the Top Gear Live world tour and took part in this year’s ITV primetime obstacle course show Ninja Warrior.

Commenting on the forthcoming Blue Peter show, Burton said: “This is an exciting show because we are linking a visual sport with the world of science. Physics & Physiology are such major parts of every sport but often people don’t give them much thought. Greg & I will be showing just how we make a bike jump so high, or do a back-flip in mid-air"

Richie Jones head of digital and marketing at Saltrock added: “Saltrock is a brand that is all about the outdoors and getting people to enjoy it. One of the ways we want to bring that ideal to life is by showing not just how fun, but also how interesting sport can be and Andrei’s appearance on Blue Peter demonstrates that perfectly.”
