The family of a Devon man who survived a triple fatal crash in Antigua are attempting to fly him back to the UK.

As reported by The Exeter Daily, Michael Hudson, 23,  who is understood to be from Teignmouth, suffered broken bones, cuts and bruises but is said to be recovering well in hospital on the island.

A police spokesman on Antigua told The Exeter Daily that it was hoped Mr Hudson would be well enough to fly soon.

"His father is with him and is taking care of things," said the officer.

"They plan to fly him back as soon as he is well enough to travel."

The Foreign Office told The Exeter Daily that British Consulate officials had been helping the family with their travel arrangements.

Meanwhile,  Both the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA) and the UK’s Air Accident Investigative branch are carrying out investigations into the accident.

Manager of Fly Montserrat, Captain Nigel Harris, said final information on what caused the crash may take months.

He told the Antigua Observer: “I would expect the investigators, when they have completed their initial survey, which should give a reasonable idea what tragically went wrong, should have some information within weeks if not days."

The inquest has been carried out and a post mortem will take place shortly on the bodies that perished in the crash.
