PCC wins Government funds for Devon crime victims
Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg has been successful in winning more than £500,000 of Government funding to help support victims of crime in Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Mr Hogg has worked with local voluntary organisations to identify the services that best meet the needs of vulnerable victims.
Only London, Greater Manchester and West Midlands have received higher grants.
“Victim care is a central priority of the Police and Crime Plan for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly,” said Tony Hogg.
“Victims of crime must receive the best possible support to cope with what they have experienced. I am delighted that, through the work of my office and the successful groups, the needs of victims will be given a further boost by the granting of additional money from the Ministry of Justice.
“This outcome demonstrates the added value that my office brings to Devon and Cornwall by securing almost 5% of the available national funds.
“From April next year, responsibility for providing services to victims of crime will sit with me as Police and Crime Commissioner.
“We are very fortunate to have a number of organisations across Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly dedicated to helping victims cope and recover from the impact of crime.
“The money will be targeted at providing further support to the most vulnerable victims, and those subjected to the most serious crimes.”
