On the 27th September the annual Northcott Beaton Insurance Brokers Golf Day took place at Woodbury Park. This year the chosen charity for the event was The Exeter Foundation.
The main aim to the Exeter Foundation is to provide the City of Exeter and its surrounding areas (The Greater Exeter) with a ‘Civic Trust’ that will promote our community and pursue the vision of people who live and work there. The Foundation will act as a fundraising body with a commitment to the future prosperity of Greater Exeter, and also as a vehicle for promoting collective civic pride.
The Exeter Foundation was born out of the desire by Exeter Chiefs and a group of Exeter businessmen to create a focus for the future of the city and its surroundings, for the benefit of all citizens. Its aim is to create a sense of community to promote civic events, culture and heritage. Local money helping local people via various fundraising mediums. More information can be found here http://www.exeterfoundation.org.uk/
This year demand was high and with the help of the major event sponsor, Marsh Barton Security Services (MBSS), the event was fully booked months in advance with some of the foremost and respected businesses in Exeter in attendance.
After the obligatory coffee and bacon rolls, 18 teams teed off at 0915 with a shotgun start. The atmosphere was relaxed and it certainly resulted in some good scoring. Some found going harder than others, after all golf is a cruel game . . .
Thanks to the kindness of fellow business folk, there were a multitude of prizes along with auction and raffle items. The teams with the greatest success were as follows: -
1st – winning a fourball at any Marriot golf course – Donated by Terry Wheatley at Heavitree Brewery - The Chiefs Players
2nd – each winning rounds of golf at Elfordleigh – Donated by Keith Benton at Heineken UK - Devon Contractors Ltd
3rd – winning a fourball at Woodbury Park – Donated by Daryn Hunt at Devon Contractors Ltd - Progressive Systems Ltd
A fantastic day was had by all, the prizes were handed out by the chiefs very own Neil Clark who also treated the gathering to a short talk about his testimonial year and what his career has meant to him. Nick Evans from Frank Tucker Commercials Ltd forked out for the ‘money can’t buy’ auction item – 2 x tickets to a game at the Exeter Chiefs with the VIP treatment in the boardroom.
The main aim for the day was to raise money for The Exeter Foundation and Northcott Beaton Insurance Brokers are pleased to announce that they have been able to donate £1,500 to this worthy cause.
