
Murder inquiry launched in Kingsbridge
Update: 2.50pm - Police have made a further arrest in connection with the murder of Alex Peguero Sosa.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said a 22-year-old man from Kingsbridge was arrested at 6.30pm on Sunday (6 July) on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.
He remains in custody at Torquay police station.

A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after 17-year-old Alex Peguero-Sosa died on Sunday.
The Kingsbridge Community College sixth form student was left with serious head injuries after an altercation at a Kingsbridge taxi rank at around 2am on Sunday.
Members of the public went to the aid of the teenager and performed CPR before paramedics arrived. He was later confirmed dead at Derriford Hospital.
A 42-year-old man from the Kingsbridge area was located by police in Fore Street in the town at 9.40am and arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody at Torquay police station.
Detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team have launched a murder enquiry to establish the circumstances of the Alex’s death.
Officers are speaking to a number of potential witnesses as part of the investigation and appealing for anyone who may have information to contact police.
Detective Inspector Ian Ringrose said: “We believe there were a lot of people in the area at the time of this incident. I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident, or the events before and after, to contact the police.”
“The police are working closely with the victim’s family to provide support at this difficult time.”
Superintendent Chris Eastwood said: “This is a very difficult time for all concerned and our deepest sympathy goes out to Alex’s family and friends. Police are working closely with his family to provide emotional support following this tragic incident.
“We are working in partnership with the college to support students and staff and local officers will be at the school in the next few days to provide reassurance and assistance at this very sad time.
“The community is understandably in shock and coming to terms with this incident which is very rare in Kingsbridge. Neighbourhood officers will be conducting reassurance patrols in the town over the coming days to support the local community.”
A cordon remains in place around the scene while a forensic examination is carried out and house-to-house enquiries are being conducted in Kingsbridge.
