Police are appealing for witnesses to an alledged attempted murder on the A30 yesterday evening  (June 2).

Officers were called to an area of the A30 near to Lewannick yesterday around 7.30pm after reports of a man injured by the carriageway.

Officers found a man with a chest injury, believed to have been caused by a stab wound. The man, aged in his twenties, was airlifted to Derriford Hospital for treatment. His condition is described as stable and he has not suffered any life threatening or life changing injuries.

The victim was discharged from hospital this morning (June 4).

Police believe the victim and suspect were involved in a minor traffic collision on the A30 involving a white BMW and a silver coloured Vauxhall Astra convertible before the altercation.

Following subsequent investigations 50-year-old Michael Johnson from Tiverton has been charged with causing GBH with intent.

He remains in custody to appear before Truro Magistrates Court this morning

Officers are keen to hear from any witnesses who saw either vehicle or the two men in the area to contact them on 101 quoting reference 715 of 2nd June 2014.
