Let’s get digital, Exeter!

People across Exeter are being challenged to try doing everyday things the digital way, in aid of national Get Online Week.

Now in its seventh year, Get Online Week takes place 14-20 October and encourages people to give online life a go at thousands of local events across the UK.

UK online centre St Loye’s Foundation on 51, New North Road is part of the campaign in Exeter, and they firmly believe computers and the internet can make everyone’s life quicker, easier and better.

Karen Clarke Head of Learning and Skills at the acclaimed Exeter-based training charity, says:  “If you’ve got a spare hour between the 14-20 October, we’re on hand to show you how getting online could save you time, hassle and even money.  Whether you want to get healthy, get connected, get a job or bag a bargain, you could be doing it all - and more - by doing it digitally.

“It doesn’t matter if you’ve never even touched a computer before or if you already know a bit - Get Online Week is a great excuse to experiment with digital technology.  It’s fun, it’s free, and it could change how you do your favourite things and everyday chores forever!  Come along to one of our events and let’s get digital together!”

An estimated 7.2 million people in the UK aren’t online, with a further 8.5 million who lack the skills and confidence to make the most of the opportunities the internet has to offer. The Octagon, on New North Road will be open for you to drop in between 10am - 4pm, Monday to Thursday and 9am – 1pm on Friday 18th October.
