Anyone looking for an alternative option to chocolate to give as a gift at Easter could be in with the chance of finding a surprise golden egg – made from recycled wax!

Exeter eco-business The Recycled Candle Company is adding a golden egg to six boxes of its limited edition colourful egg-shaped Easter candles. Those who discover the eggs will receive a voucher for £50 to spend online or at the shop in Gandy Street.

Richard Hills-Ingyon says “It’s our take on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with a bit of the goose that lays golden eggs thrown in.

“We thought it would be a bit of fun for Easter and also help highlight the work we do recycling and reusing wax, a material that would otherwise be thrown into the bin and added to landfill.”

Regular boxes contain two pink, two blue and two yellow egg candles made from 100% recycled wax donated by businesses, places of worship and eco-friendly individuals from across the country. Currently the business saves around 40 tonnes of old wax from being dumped in landfill each year.

To be in with a chance of finding a golden egg, the purchase must be made online at The Recycled Candle Company’s website.

“We hope this will be an eggs-tra special Easter for customers who support what we’re doing!” adds Richard.

The candles must be removed from the box and placed on a fire-safe surface or other suitable container before they are lit.
