Exeter City offers "drop and shop" kids' football events for Christmas Eve

Christmas is coming early for frazzled parents, thanks to Exeter City, with two special “drop and shop” football sessions running for children on Christmas Eve.

Exeter City’s Football in the Community Trust is hosting the two events - a football roadshow at Middlemoor Police HQ and a Grecian Day at St James’ Park - both of which will run from 10am until 3pm and are open to boys and girls aged 5-14.

The football roadshow at Middlemoor provides an excellent opportunity for children to brush up on their football skills and learn a few new tips and tricks - as well as tiring them out for a good night’s sleep on Christmas Eve.

The Grecian Day will appeal to all young fans of Exeter City, as it includes a tour of the ground, a competition to design a kit for the team and a special Christmas treasure hunt.

Both sessions cost £20 for the day and include Domino’s pizza for lunch, as well as all games, competitions and prizes and a goody bag to take home. Each takes place in a safe, supervised environment, with Exeter City’s FA-qualified coaches leading the sessions.

An added incentive is free parking for parents at St James’ Park - perfect for all that last-minute shopping - subject to availability and it must be booked in advance.

“Christmas Eve can be hectic enough for parents without having to worry about dragging their children around the shops, so we thought it would be a good idea to host two special football sessions that will be fun for the children and give the parents a little bit of breathing space,” Scott Walker, sports development officer for the Football in the Community Trust, said. “Whether you want to learn some new football skills to impress your friends or just want to see behind the scenes of your favourite football club, this is the perfect opportunity to do it.”

As well as the two events on Christmas Eve, Exeter City will also be hosting a series of New Year roadshows. There are three two-day events in Exeter, Exmouth and Sidmouth on 2nd and 3rd of January, plus one-day sessions in Barnstaple, Crediton, Feniton, Honiton and Tiverton on 4th January.
