Exeter Church launches into new adventure
A church in Exeter is launching a new event next month aimed at those who are curious about Christianity.
In a recent BBC poll, it was found that a fifth of non-religious people believe in life after death, and a growing number of people are open to exploring the Bible and faith further.
Rediscover Church in Northernhay Street is now launching Alpha, a new 8 week course, which explores the basics of the Christian faith and is relevant to those who have never come to church before.
Alpha shares stories of finding God from personalities including TV adventurer Bear Grylls and world-renowned scientist Francis Collins of the Human Genome Project.
Guests of all ages are invited to come along and explore faith-based questions such as, Is there more to life? Why did Jesus die? How can I have faith? and How does God guide us?
Each evening begins with food, followed by a short video, then in small groups guests of all ages can share their viewpoint and challenge it with others.
Churches around the world offer the Alpha, and over the years 29 million people have completed the course in 112 different languages. So far around 200 people have taken part in Alpha at Rediscover Church – now leaders say they’re expecting many more to come through their doors in October.

The church say that potential guests are welcome to 'come and see' what the course is like, with no commitment to completing the full course.
They say that many who have taken part in Alpha in the past have now begun their own personal journey exploring faith. Previous Alpha guest Natalie said,
“each evening makes for a relaxed, interesting conversation with challenging questions. Alpha gives you space and time to think about the big questions in life”.
