Dom Morris welcomes cathedral grant
Prospective MP for Exeter Dom Morris has welcomed the announcement that Exeter Cathedral will receive a grant from the First World War Centenary Cathedral Repairs Fund.
Dom met with the Minister for Culture Sajid Javid in parliament ahead of last week's announcement, hoping that Exeter's historic focal point wouldn't miss out.
Dom said: We're not just about fixing the economy. This grant is about remembering that our city is steeped in history by remembering those that sacrificed their lives for us in the Fist World War."
"The Minister and I had a great discussion last week and it's clear that the Conservative government shares my commitment to safeguarding iconic buildings like Exeter Cathedral for generations to come."
Before being selected as Exeter's Prospective MP Dom worked in conflict zones for the government, including the frontline in Helmand.
He said it was important that all those who served, including his friends, were remembered, adding: "Any such opportunity to do so is a privilege."
